Kate Hallberg,
I was a physiologist with a strong interest in reproduction before I became a mom. I have two beautiful daughters: Ursula (11-23-94) and Sage (4-43-97), both of the surname Grunwald. I knew I would sleep with my children and breastfeed until they were through because of an endocrinology class taught by Sue Carter, a researcher on the role of oxytocin. Until I knew how non-violent and responsive parenting *should* be I had intended to never have children, but then I learned how rewarding it could be. And is.

Hello! We're Carrie (28), Katie (7), Rose (5) and Gaelin (2). I spent seven years as an at-home mommy to my children despite financial sacrifice and struggling to make it doing odd jobs from home. It was worth it!
Once Gaelin's last surgery was taken care of and he was no longer afraid of being without me, I took the initiative to secure an outside-of-the-home job, and am presently working as Parish Secretary for my church. I love it!
I nursed all three of my children - collectively surviving allergies (all three of my kids reacted to certain foods in my diet), extreme colic, surgeries, craniofacial birth defects, nursing strikes, and more. I feel like I've been through a war in a way... one that I've definitely WON!
I'm so glad I chose to breastfeed!!!
Parent-l has been a lifeline for me. How wonderful that I found the list, and how super to have made such terrific friends! Thanks, all, for being there! (Even though I need a 12-step program to break the parent-l habit! LOL!)
Please visit my site listed below for photos, breastfeeding resources, information about cleft deformities, childhood surgery, homeschooling, mothering with depression and more!!! And while you're there, *DO* sign our guest book!!!
God Bless! Carrie
