The Nursing Baby - Q&A

My baby is almost 6 weeks old, and so far nursing is going fine except for my sore nipples! They feel irritated when I'm not nursing, and the initial latch-on is usually painful. After a few seconds or maybe a few minutes, the pain disappears for the duration of the feeding. I feel she is latching on properly so I'm unsure why I am still having pain.

Bonnie, there could be a latch problem, or possibly yeast is the culprit. I'd advise checking with an IBCLC certified lactation consultant.
