The Nursing Baby - Q&A

Lisa asks:
I am expecting twins in November and I have a few questions about nursing them. First, can i get them both on the same schedule and is it hard to nurse them at the same time???

Lisa, if you are like 2/3 of mothers expecting twins, you are expecting fraternal twins. They may or may not want to nurse at the same time, although you can certainly encourage the "slower" twin to nurse a bit more often. You may even enjoy attending them one at a time, while the other naps, as some mothers do not like nursing both their twins at the same time.

If you do nurse at the same time, while they are little, you can nurse them both in cradle hold, crossed over each other. You can also nurse them both in football hold. I suggest you get some nursing pillow(s) or lots of little pillows to help build up your "nursing nest".

Best of luck nurturing two!
