The Nursing Baby - Your Breastfeeding Stories

I am a mother of two beautiful little girls. When I had my first, now almost 5 years ago, I had a wonderful breasfeeding teacher, my mother. She had nursed me until I was two years old. I had never even thought about bottlefeeding. It came pretty natural at first. Two weeks after she was born, I got a horrible uterine infection and breast infection on top of that. I was hospitalized and she roomed with me along with my mother. I never considered stopping. And I'm glad I didn't. I breastfed her for 1 year to the date. I was young and I didn't know much about extended breastfeeding, plus I wanted some freedom (I was 19 yrs.) We have an incredible bond. I just gave birth to my second daughter 3 months ago. We have had a little bit harder time breastfeeding. She wasn't latching on correct and I kept getting milk blisters. Again, I never considered stopping. I have been back at work for almost 3 weeks, and even though it is hard, I find comfort knowing I am giving her the best start by giving her my milk. I pump at work and even though I was having trouble pumping enough at first, it has gotten better and I haven't had to supplement. I plan on breastfeeding this one for as long as she will. There is nothing better than coming home from a hard days work to a sweet little angel suckling at your breast and looking at you with eyes that make you melt.
