The Nursing Baby - Your Breastfeeding StoriesI had my first child (a girl named Ashley) when I was 21 years old and I had the desire to breastfeed, however I had no support of any kind and I did not understand what was happening when I became engorged so I gave up. 12 years later I have had my second child, a boy named Hunter. He took right to the breast from the very start. There are great lactation consultants at the hospital and they have been there to answer all my questions and concerns. I have been able to call upon them for anything. Hunter's pediatrician also encourages me to breastfeed no matter what. I did not realize how demanded bf would be but I do not regret it. I know without a doubt that he is getting the BEST!! There is nothing like it when I look at him while nursing and he smiles back at me. It's an amazing feeling. He turned 3 months yesterday and is growing like a weed. He was actually born a month early but you would never know it by the way he's growing. I had prayed when I carried him that I would be able to nurse him and I am so thankful its been successful thus far. I had to leave him while I went to the doctor one time and the woman offered him a bottle of formula and he wouldn't have it. I just returned back to work on Monday of this week, but I have stored up a supply of breast milk plus I pump while at work. I miss him terrible, but I've been going home at lunch and knowing he is still getting my milk makes me feel much better about leaving him. My advice to anyone wanting to breastfeed is: Do not listen to people who try to discourage you. It is the best thing for your baby!!! Darlene Smith
