The Nursing Baby - Your Breastfeeding StoriesMy husband and I had our first child, Cheyanne Kay, October 26, 1998. She was born via planned c-section due to low fluid and she was breech. Our nursing life didn't begin until about 3 hours after her birth. The hospital nurses were awful about the knowledge they had about the techniques and such. Thank God that my Mom was with us! (She nursed me until 18 mo and my brother self-weaned at 10 mo.) At 2 1/2 weeks, I got my first bout of mastitis because of sore nipples. I still had sore and slightly cracked nipples at 6 weeks, so we saw a lacation consultant. Then again at 8 & 10 weeks, second and third bouts of infection!:( Then at 3 months, I was hospitalized unexpectly on my death bed with pancreasitits and gall stones. I was in the hospital for 5 days on very powerful drugs, and I had my gall bladder removed first with laser, and then they had to open me up because they hit my liver and I started bleeding internally!!:( Every time my Mom brought Cheyanne to the hospital I cried because I couldn't hold or take care of her since I was so weak. Well, we are still nursing at 14 mo old, and we don't expect to stop anytime soon!!:)My favorite moments now are when she walks up to me, and says, "MaMa, tee-tees?" How can I resist a sweet innocent face? My family thinks that I should be weaning her now since she knows where MaMa's tee-tees are, but we don't think so!! She knows that the best stuff isn't from a bottle or cup!!
