The Nursing Baby - Your Breastfeeding Stories

This is a very unusual story to most, but the few who can relate to this will know how it goes.

I've been married for 5 yrs now, to the man of my dreams. His name is Shawn, and I've known him for almost 10 yrs. Well, before we were engaged, Shawn came to me one afternoon, crying his eyes out. I didn't know what was wrong, but before I could say anything, he hugged me tightly with his head planted into my chest. Then and there when I asked him what was the matter, he told me a secret that only he and his mother know; He was NEVER breastfed. I was kinda in a state of shock and I know he and his mother never really had the best relationship (seeing how she's hated me to this day) and I've known that the bond at birth for a mother and a child is at time of nursing, and being one with your child.

Anyways, after Shawn told me this, I felt so sorry that he never had that bond with him and his mother. And that afternoon, he asked me something that will live with me to this very day; He asked me to nurse him to make up for his mothers absence. I looked at him as a good friend and nothing else at that time, but what could I do? turn down a crying young man needing support from his only friend? NO, I didnt want to do that, and so I granted him his wish.

I nursed him for about 2 hrs. that day, and every day since. I eventually fell in love with him shortly after as he would call me "Mama" =o). I know some women reading this now is going to find this a bit degrading, but just like the lack of support from family members involving others, I find my story to be bonding, I became a mother/wife to the baby who NEEDED nursing when he didn't receive it. Unusual??? I THINK NOT!!!

Shawn is like my big baby, he sucks whenever he wants and sleeps nursing sometimes, its so cute. Its so cute that we are expecting in a few months, so I might have to resort to tandem nursing for my newborn and my husband. (NOTE: This isn't sick, its natural. I cried when I finally lactated).
