The Nursing Baby - Your Breastfeeding Stories

My name is Linda and my son, Alex, is now 6 months old. I have 2 older sons, Jesse and Robert who only nursed for about 1 month each. I decided to breastfeed for many reasons, but the main one was that I know it is best for my baby. Only my milk can provide him the best possible nutrition in the first year of his life. Only my milk can assure his health and well being as far as I am concerned. One of the things that I have noticed with him is that he is so closely bonded to me, words cannot describe the attachment I have with this child. I feel that breastfeeding this baby has made him a natural extension of me, he is truly blissful when he is at my breast. He loves to be carried around all the time, I believe he craves the closeness and this stems from the nursing. While some might say that nursing has tied me down because I am the only one who can comfort my son at times, I feel that this stage in his life is so short and that very soon he will hit the ground running and never look back!!! Before you know it he will be out there fishing and playing ball with his dad and the days of nursing will be a distant memory. For this reason I don't mind all the constant care and loving he demands of me now, in fact, I cherish each and every moment. Nursing a child brings you closer to that child than you could ever imagine and I don't think any mother should deprive herself of that experience even if its for a short while.
